Saturday was a big day at BBL! Andy Triggs Hodge (taking a momentary break from his training) came down to award Pairs Head prizes, and to name the Lucy Fry – our newest Filippi double given by the Pairs Head Committee. Bubbles were flowing (over the boat and down throats) and I must thank the Pairs Head Committee (and their helpers) once more for putting on the ‘Best Head Race on the Tideway’, and Lucy for being Chair, as well as BBL’s Treasurer for so many years. How brilliant that we have a boat named after her!

Saturday was also the Cygnet’s Henley Luncheon at Leander Club, where our nearest (and dearest) Tideway neighbours celebrated their 125th Anniversary for (allegedly) the last time. It was a great occasion with delicious food, many old friends (BBL Captains were the biggest group of dignitaries invited to drink with the Chairman), good speeches and a talk from the ‘Voice of Rowing’, Dr Robert Treharne Jones.
We have another busy weekend ahead, with a Club Time Trial on Sunday morning followed by First Sunday Work Day. We’d like to move all the rubbish, clear out and sweep the Boathouse. If you can come down we’d love to see you – we’ll be serving brunch. ( And if anyone would like to lend a hand with timing for the Time Trial please let me know).
I am receiving weekly requests for marshals and launch drivers for the following Head Races coming up – please be generous if you can. I know many of you have already offered – thank you.
