We’ve had a lot of interest in our new ‘Get fit at row’ course. We’ve compiled some frequently asked questions for those of you looking for a bit more information.
1. When does the course start?
The course officially starts on Monday 29th July, we have a pre-course open day on Sunday 28th July from 11am – 2pm.
2. I can’t make the pre-course open day? Can I still do the course?
Don’t worry if you can’t make the pre-course open day, you can still join. Come along to the session and make yourself known to the coach.
3. I’m on holiday or can’t make all the sessions. Is that OK?
You’ll obviously get more out of the course the more sessions you attend, however if you can’t attend a session that is OK. The course includes cross-training, which you can do in your own time, and doesn’t require you to be at the club.
4. How much does the course cost?
The course is £110, and will make you eligible for a discounted membership to BBLRC.
Our membership runs from Jan – Dec, full membership is £360 per year. Should you join in October you’ll pay for three months, which would normally be £90, however it will be discounted to £50. See more information about membership.
5. When and what are the sessions?
The sessions are planned for Monday evening, Wednesday evening and Saturday morning.
Monday sessions between 6.30 – 9pm : cross training
Wednesday session between 6.30 – 9pm: rowing machine (ergs), indoor rowing tank
Saturday OR Sunday sessions 9.30am: rowing machine (ergs), on the water
6. I’ve never rowed before. I’m not very fit. Is that OK?
The course is designed for people who have never rowed before and you don’t need to be fit.
7. Where are the sessions held?
The sessions will be at the Civil Service Boat Club, see our location.
8. What is the relationship between Barnes Bridge Ladies Rowing Club and the Civil Service Sports Council (CSSC)
Barnes Bridge Ladies Rowing Club was previously the Civil Service Ladies Rowing Club. Our boat house is supported by the CSSC. You do not need to be a Civil Servant to join, however if you are a Civil Servant or work in government funded employment you may be eligible for discounted membership, see the CSSC website for more details.
